1st - Nick and friend Louise flew down from Cairns to celebrate their joint birthdays (Nick's 40th!) at a concert and stayed a few nights at AthoTurnbull HQ before heading to the Gold Coast for a night. Meanwhile James and Keno spent five nights with mother Elizabeth and clan at the Gold Coast . Paulie had flown into Adelaide on the 1st for the Writers Festival. Always well worth it
3rd - Olivia was still up from Adelaide and attended her pal Megan's "Hens Night" event before returning to Adelaide on the 2nd. Paulie met a fellow Queenslander from Toowoomba. Paulie had been up in the Adelaide Hills looking at potential homes and fortunately survived a bee sting (she's allergic) 3rd - Olivia was back in her Adelaide home unpacking some of her items from Brisbane. Paulie stayed with her for her brief visit
A remote session with one of the writers Paulie enjoys reading. Horowitz. Being alone in the house, Stephen thought he should try a shiraz/syrah that was in a mixed dozen reds he recently purchased. One sip and he realised something must have gone wrong with the dispatch - he received a delicious bottle worth way more than the mixed dozen itself. He quickly rang Owen to share the bottle with him. Having returned from the family break in Noosa, Keno and James rented a small apartment in New Farm.
Stephen continued his chores... .. under the watchful supervision of his young reptile pal Harry. 4th - Paulie enjoyed the sunshine at the festival in Adelaide. In Brisbane there was little sunshine... ... Cyclone Alfred was on the way. She flew home early whilst Brisbane airport was still open.
A mild case of mass hysteria as people overreacted and emptied many supermarket shelves But in reality, the cyclone didn't create too much damage and some thought that people overreacted (much to the delight of retailers) 6th - James & Keno's flat was in an area that was predicted to flood. So they had returned to the AthoTurnbull family home The rain certainly did come. Stephen had to repeatedly syphon water out of the pool
The AthoTurnbull HQ lost power for a day as did these folks in St Lucia who crowded the coffee shop in the morning. 7th - the Atherton lads prepared a fine vegan meal 9th- later they cleared the lounge/dining room in preparation of the new carpet being delivered .
The lads had to head home. First to Sydney for a few days and then Shanghai for a few before returning to Oxford. . . .
James and Keno check out the Sydney galleries, go to the opera and... ... take the Manly ferry 11th - clean up time. Followed by demolition time. Removing a shed so the existing metal could move there
The new carpet is in. 14th- the guys check out the Yu Garden in Shanghai . 15th - time to declutter the library
Some sacrifices gave the guys a feeling of melancholy. Stephen's recalled conferences in the US, UK and ANZ (some he presented at). But is the 4m2 rubbish skip they went and 11 boxes of books that were no longer wanted awaited the charity collection van And the outdoor storage was completed with help from guru Adam Castle With Adam's help, furniture was returned to the newly carpeted room (minus the sideboard to conform with the "less is more" mantra)
. 19th - Paulie & Stephen visit the new Drs Traynor pad in Melany. . Max has his own small pad on the property
21st - It was Louise Atherton's 70th some weeks back and her kids arranged a weekend away at Noosa. Lottie wasn't invited so she stayed with the AthoTurnbulls . In Oxford Spring had sprung and James liked what he saw blooming in the garden .
Stephen did not like what he saw in the garden (a date palm thorn scratch) as it led to 10 days of probable contact dermatitis 25th - an itching arm did not stop Stephen from a 26km cycle 26th - Paulie cycled solo for her own cycle adventure. Have to keep fit for the April adventure of selling their home of 20 years!
